Using a handgun for self-defense requires skills that are developed and maintained on a regular basis. In a crisis, you will need to react in an effective manner without much conscious thought. This requires sound self-defense basics and frequent practice to enhance muscle memory and neural engrams This can be accomplished by using dry fire training.
Most firearms training can be safely practiced at home without ammunition or any special equipment. In my standard initial and renewal classes you will learn dry fire training, to include:
Combat Grip
Athletic Stance
Point Shooting
Natural Point of Aim
Proper Trigger Pull
Reloads
Malfunction Drills
Drawing from Concealment
and much more.

To qualify for the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) in California, retired law enforcement officers must meet several requirements, including:
LEOSA Qualification Course of Fire:
1. Those in the process of obtaining their CCW permit through OCSD.
2. Residents of the County of Orange.
3. Be at least 21 years of age.
4. Persons free from criminal convictions that would disqualify them from carrying a concealed firearm.
5. Persons of good moral character.
6. Persons free from any psychological conditions that might make them unsuitable for carrying a concealed firearm.
No. Final approval for a CCW permit rests solely at the discretion of the Orange County Sheriffs Department.
